The Agricultural Mechanization Development Program (AMDP) of the Institute of Agricultural Engineering is the research and extension arm of the College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology of the University of the Philippines Los Banos. Since its establishment in 1979, it has significant accomplishments in the development of agricultural mechanization in the country in terms of research and development, manpower training and extension, policy advocacy and local manufacture of agricultural machinery for the Filipino farmers, manufacturers and entrepreneurs.
AMDP is the designated Philippine National Institute in the UN-ESCAP program called the Asian and Pacific Centre for Agricultural Engineering and Machinery (UNAPCAEM).
The program develops, tests and promotes affordable and location-specific agricultural machineries for farmers; conducts technology and information dissemination through pilot testing, demonstration of machines, exhibits, publication; and conducts training for different target beneficiaries. It undertakes various activities that contributes to government efforts in increasing agricultural productivity and increase farmers' income.

AMDP joins nationwide implementation of FSTP
From a program initiated in 1994 to address the poverty problem of the highland farmers of Cebu, the Farmer-Scientist Training Program (FSTP) expanded to other depressed provinces and municipalities in the country through the issuance of Executive Order 710 by then President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. The expanded FSTP activity will cover 656 municipalities in 31 provinces and 11 regions.
